Matt Adler is part of the technical staff at SOM in New York. He graduated from the Carnegie Mellon University School of Architecture in 2014.

Jon Bailey is a designer and researcher in the HKS LINE (Laboratory for INtensive Exploration) studio and is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he studied and researched; advanced modeling techniques, robotic fabrication, parametric and algorithmic modeling, architectural theory, and data driven performance modeling in architectural design. Since 2007 he has curated and is the founder and editor of an online architectural research project, Archimorph, guided by a trajectory for furthering our knowledge and understanding of technological and biological integration in design.
His designs and research focus on the implementation of emerging digital tools within the architectural design process; where materiality, building systems and processes are inspired by biological and technological natures.
Forest City Ratner Companies
Swathi Bonda is a Development Manager at Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC). There, she focuses on affordable housing development at Pacific Park Brooklyn, including the 461 Dean and 535 Carlton projects. Prior to FCRC, Swathi held positions at Fannie Mae and Booz Allen Hamilton. She received her B.S. and MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Research and Development Engineer,
James Coleman currently acts as a Research and Development Engineer at A. Zahner Company. He is involved in projects as a digital design and manufacturing specialist. James holds master’s degrees in architecture and mechanical engineering from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His current research is centered around parametric design-to-fabrication workflows and one-off automation strategies.
He has worked internationally as design engineer for architectural projects of a variety of scales and also as a Product Development Engineer at the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. With diverse set of fabrication equipment, industrial robots, and custom made machinery James makes things, breaks things, and invents things with varying levels of success and sophistication.
Vishwadeep is an associate and senior façade designer at Front Inc., with over 14 years of facade design and construction industry experience. Interested in the process of design synthesis, Vishwadeep’s areas of expertise include façade system design, advanced computational design, materials research, and optimization processes. Vishwadeep has worked and managed design for projects from prominent public, institutional, museum, office, residential, commercial, sports and transportation buildings. He holds an M.S., with a concentration in Building Technology, from Georgia Institute of Technology where he worked as Research Assistant at the Digital Fabrication Lab, a B.Arch, from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi, and is a registered Architect in India.

Walter P. Moore
Trained as both and architect and digital designer, Fagerström, is globally recognized as a leader in the conceptualization and digital analysis of complex structures and facade systems. Since 2007, he has been involved in the development and refinement of digital modeling tools. Recently, Fagerström has been dedicated to leading coordination efforts for BIM, 3D and parametric modeling between primary structural systems and façade systems. As Co-Founder of the Walter P Moore New York office, he serves as the New York Digital Practice Leader, where he focuses on digital workflow and analysis of special structures.
Daniel Gillen Design
Daniel Gillen has lead multiple high profile complex cultural projects. Specializing in advanced geometry, construction sequencing, digital fabrication, and technological workflow efficiencies, Daniel utilizes computational design to assist in the construction of advanced building typologies.
Gillen has worked as an Associate Partner at MAD Architects and Asymptote Architecture in New York. Gillen has been internationally published and has been an invited lecturer and critic at twenty-one universities in four countries including Princeton, Columbia, Tsinghua, Pratt, HKU, Parson’s, and NYIT.
Managing Principal, Senior Building Science Specialist,
Hubbs has over 25 years’ experience as a consultant practicing exclusively in the field of facade engineering and building science. He has a unique blend of theoretical and hands-on knowledge gained from completing hundreds of building enclosure investigations and rehabilitation projects as well as from facade engineering and construction review of building enclosures for new buildings. Hubbs’ experience includes work on a variety of building types in virtually all climatic regions across Canada and the US. He has extensive experience designing, testing and constructing unique high-rise building facades with unitized curtain wall, skylights, and window-wall systems manufactured offshore in Asia and Europe.
Alloy Kemp is a Project Engineer in the Facade Engineering Practice at Thornton Tomasetti. As a licensed architect and trained engineer, Kemp has had extensive experience in the design and engineering of ETFE and other facade systems. At Thornton Tomasetti, she has been integral to several large and small scale ETFE projects and has developed best practice guidelines ETFE systems from an engineering perspective.
Edmund Ming Yip Kwong is a project designer in Morphosis’ New York office with seven years of experience at Morphosis working with Pritzker prize award winning architect Thom Mayne. He has played an integral role in designing and realizing projects such as Clyde Frazier’s, Bill and Melinda Gates Hall and the Bloomberg Center (2017) – the net-zero, LEED Platinum main academic building for the new Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island in New York
Caroline Lama, PE, is a mechanical engineer who currently works as a Senior Consultant at Vidaris on projects such as Pacific Park, 70 Vestry, and the Manhattan West Office Tower. Her focus is on façade design and building physics for a range of wall systems including curtain wall, precast, window wall, storefronts, and glass fin walls.

Paul Martin is the Director of Engineering Sales for the A. Zahner Company; a renowned designer, fabricator, and installer of some of the world’s most inventive and intricate metal facades. Since 1998, Mr. Martin has worked closely with many of the world’s top architects and artists to deliver exceptional projects.
Trey is part of the senior technical staff at SOM in New York. He received as Masters in Architecture from Pratt Institute. Recent project experience includes new high rise construction which qualified for NYC’s Zone Green deductions through improved exterior wall performance.
Heath May is Director of HKS LINE. He is an architect with 13 years of experience including commercial, hospitality, sports and healthcare. His avid interest in passive solar design encourages research into the potential for using software for dynamic design through analysis and implementation of data-driven parameters for optimization of complex facades for daylighting and solar performance.
Heath leads a design team responsible for projects including future:GSA, a net-zero renovation solution that earned the 2012 WAN Commercial Building of the Year Award, and he worked as senior designer on Sustainable Urban Living, a winner of the 2010 Chicago Athenaeum Green Good Design Award. In April of 2013, he was named recipient of Building Design + Construction’s 40 under 40. Heath currently serves on the Advisory Board at the PACCAR Technology Institute at the University of North Texas and is on the Executive Committee of the HKS Global Design Council.
Permasteelisa North America
Kasey McCarthy is a Project Tender Leader at Permasteelisa North America facilitating bid proposals for exterior facades. She manages a team of experts within design, engineering, production and logistics, who evaluate a project and propose the execution strategy with the best economic and technical solution for the intended Façade Design. She has worked on many projects of different magnitude and functionality, such as Northeastern University ISEB, 111 Murray Street, City Point Phase 3, and One Vanderbilt Tower. With a background in structural engineering, she has a deep understanding of the technical requirements of curtain wall based on North American Standards.
Krista brings to the Transsolar New York team a passion for design at the intersection of architecture, engineering, computation, and ecology. Her expertise in passive design includes daylight modelling, thermal simulation and natural ventilation design. Krista’s varied education in environmental engineering, architecture and interdisciplinary design provides a unique skill set to manifest Transsolar’s mission of creating elegant high comfort low energy buildings. Before joining Transsolar Krista worked as a teaching assistant at the Harvard GSD, as researcher with MIT’s Sustainable Design Lab and a designer for at the Harvard Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Design. Prior to this Krista was a green building consultant in Toronto with Halsall Associates where she started the firm’s passive design group.
Edward is a design principal at Forum Studio where he is a recognized leader in emerging architectural technologies and innovative building skins. He is a leading advocate for high-performance architecture, an educator of informed collaboration and a pioneer of innovative materials. Before joining Forum Studio, Edward practiced as a façade consultant and was instrumental in the design and development of many of the most recognizable ETFE projects around the world. For more than 15 years he has contributed to the advancement of ETFE; systems and project applications and is a regular speaker on the technology.
Ashley Reed is focused on the construction and optimization of building envelopes. Her work experience includes façades consulting at Vidaris, Inc. and Buro Happold. She was also a member of Thornton Tomasetti’s CORE studio, where she merged parametric workflows with building skin analysis. She has an architecture degree from Cornell University and engineering degrees from The Cooper Union and Tulane University.
Susie Teal joined COOKFOX in early 2012 and is currently the project architect for Phase Two of City Point, a three part mixed-use development in Downtown Brooklyn. Susie is also the project architect for 535 Carlton, an affordable building in the Pacific Park development in Brooklyn.

A senior member of the SOM Enclosure Group, Timm brings over 19 years of experience to the team, including project management on projects ranging from street furniture, to institutional work, and large scale speculative developments. Timm’s interest and expertise lies in building enclosures, both in their aesthetic appearance in varying light conditions and their performance throughout the seasons, as well as in efficient structures featuring materials and techniques new to the building process. His recent project experience includes One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere; the Center for Character and Leadership Development, a new building at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO; and 252 East 57th street, a luxury mixed-use project in Manhattan with residential, retail, and public spaces.
Commercial Specifications Manager,
Shawn Torbert is the NYC Commercial Specifications Manager at ROXUL USA, a subsidiary of ROCKWOOL International in Denmark. His career in sustainable building began in 2007, when he became VP of New Business Development at Greenable, Inc., Philadelphia’s first “green building” material supplier. Since then he has maintained a strong focus on sustainable building materials and high-performance/low- energy
building technologies and design.
In 2009, Shawn founded an independent manufacturer’s representative firm, TORUS 5, to introduce new high-performance commercial building products to the U.S. architectural community and construction markets. At TORUS 5 he specialized in rainscreen façade systems and development, code compliance strategies and consulting, passive daylighting products, moisture management products, BIPV glass, and vapor permeable air barrier materials. In 2012, Shawn became the NYC Façade Application Specialist at Trespa North America before moving to ROXUL in 2014.
Shawn is a graduate of Lehigh University, LEED AP, and Certified International Passive House Designer. He recently served a two year term on the Board of Directors at New York Passive House (NYPH) and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science degree in Sustainability Management at Columbia University in New York City.
Tuluca leads the energy efficiency and green consulting at Vidaris. His team worked on energy efficiency for over 100 million sqft of facilities, including the first US net-zero building at Oberlin College, the first US green spec office building at Four Times Square, the first US green highrise tower –Solaire — and over 300 LEED buildings. They perform energy use modeling, dewpoint and U-value analyses on two and three-dimensional models, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for comfort, condensation and air distribution. Tuluca and his team have trained the NYC DoB on Energy Code compliance and have been part of the group that developed the NYC Zone Green bonus.
Adrian’s experience in thermal simulations, daylighting analysis, as well as data analysis and visualization brings insight to the design of low-impact user-centered buildings. This expertise in thermal and daylight simulation extends to the testing and validation of climate concepts for complex building systems and geometries. As well Adrian’s data visualizations add depth to this analysis, providing clear graphics for the quick comprehension of innovative systems and solutions. His education also provides a strength in the building envelope detailing necessary for ensuring high levels of building performance.
Walter P. Moore
Verboon is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Walter P Moore’s New York office. Trained in both architecture and engineering, he brings a deep global experience with a focus on the design of complex and high performance building envelopes for a wide range of building types. Verboon has experience working with a wide variety of facade applications including high-performance double skin facades, geometrically complex composite facades, and custom unitized enclosures for both new buildings and existing building retrofits and extensions. His portfolio expresses both national and international work with extensive experience in the New York market, bringing expertise in buildings old and new, across academic, commercial and cultural sectors. In addition to Erik’s professional accolades, he also teaches enclosure design at a number of leading universities.

Throughout his career in architecture, James has maintained an interest in cutting-edge manufacturing processes and developed specialized concentration in high-resolution additive processes. He is currently focused on highly articulated metal structures and direct-to-fabrication methodologies. At HKS his responsibilities encompass a broad range of activities that span from preliminary analysis and conceptual design through design development and documentation of complex architectural systems. His role demonstrates proactive engagement with practice leading to implementation of additively manufactured building-scale assemblies. These efforts represent a cumulative contribution to professional and academic discourse surrounding computational design and digital fabrication, as well as serve to further application and advancement in real-world construction scenarios while expanding the field’s awareness of emerging technologies. James received a Master’s Degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Associations’ Design Research Laboratory (DRL). He is currently enrolled as a PhD student in SMU’s Mechanical Engineering Department, where he holds a research assistantship through the Research Center for Advanced Manufacturing (RCAM).

Zimmer is directly responsible for business development and operations for Frener & Reifer America, Inc. Through his educational background in structural and earthquake engineering combined with business, he has been guiding the design to installation process for specialty structural steel and glass structures focusing on 3D facades and skylight systems across the US and Canada for over 16 years. Zimmer has also lectured at Harvard University GSD and other leading universities.
